About Michelle – Slovenska Kuhinja®

Welcome to my Slovenian Kitchen! I’m Michelle Pusic Ryall, Founder & Creator of Slovenska Kuhinja® and SlovenianKitchen.com, a global platform celebrating Slovenian cuisine, traditions, and heritage. I started a small Facebook group in 2020, and our community has grown to over 65,000 members and followers worldwide, sharing authentic Slovenian recipes, family stories, and cultural traditions across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and my blog.

Through my work, I share the Slovenian flavours and traditions I grew up with, preserving our heritage and bringing it into kitchens around the world. Slovenska Kuhinja® is a beautiful celebration of family, faith, culture, and connection.

Family is Everything

My parents were both born in Slovenia — my mom from Prekmurje and my dad from Bela Krajina. My dad came to Canada at the age of five, and my mom left home at 18 to start a new life in Canada. Soon after, they met, they fell in love, and built a home filled with love, faith, and rich Slovenian traditions.

Growing up, the kitchen was my happy place. I stood on a chair next to my mom, wearing my little Slovenian apron, helping her cook and bake. Mama, the “Queen of the Kitchen,” inspired me to share Slovenian food with the world ❤️.

My husband, Dana, and I met at a Slovenian event when we were only 15 years old. Life took us on different paths, but we reunited after college, married in 2003, and raised two amazing sons, Ethan and Evan. Our kitchen remains the heart of our home, where we love to gather together over food — because we are, truly, a family of foodies.

My Heart

Everything I do as a creator, photographer, and blogger is rooted in my heritage, faith, family, and love for Slovenian culture. My mission is simple: to preserve Slovenian culinary traditions and share them with the world.

My Journey

• I began working as a pre-teen, catering at Slovenian weddings and events.

• Graduated with a degree in Business, dreaming of one day owning a business inspired by my heritage.

• Worked in sales and account management in the consumer packaged goods industry.

• Became a stay-at-home mom to raise my two sons, cherishing every moment., while also owning and operating my own small custom cake design business from my very own kitchen.

• Launched Slovenska Kuhinja® in April 2020, quickly growing a global community of passionate food lovers.

In a nutshell, I’m a wife, mom, creator, photographer, entrepreneur — and a proud Slovenian Cultural & Food Ambassador sharing love through food.

Made with Love

The Slovenska Kuhinja® Facebook group began as a creative outlet during uncertain times, combining my passions: family, friends, food, and Slovenia. Within days, the community grew globally, and today it reaches over 23,000 members and followers worldwide. My YouTube videos have been viewed over 850,000 times, and my blog inspires people everywhere to explore authentic Slovenian cuisine.

I continue to share tried-and-true family recipes, all personally tested and photographed by me, preserving the flavours of my heritage for future generations. Each dish tells a story — of family, faith, and home — and I feel so blessed to share it with the world.
