Shipping Policy
Customs & Duties Disclaimer
Duties, taxes, and import fees are determined solely by the destination country’s customs authorities. While we offer DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) options at checkout, duties and taxes are prepaid based on estimates available at the time of purchase. Customs authorities may re-assess shipments and apply additional charges. Any such fees are outside of our control, are the responsibility of the recipient, and are not refundable.
U.S. & International Customers — Customs Fees and Returns
Because all orders ship from Canada, U.S. and international customers may be required to pay customs duties, taxes, or import fees when their package enters the destination country.
These fees are set entirely by the destination country’s customs authority and are not controlled, charged, or covered by Slovenian Kitchen.
Customers are solely responsible for paying any customs, duty, or import fees assessed at delivery.
This applies to both DDP and non-DDP shipments if customs authorities apply additional or adjusted charges.
If these fees are not paid, customs or the carrier may delay, hold, refuse, return, or abandon the shipment at the customer’s expense.
If Your Package Is Returned Due to Unpaid Customs Fees
If a customer chooses not to pay the required customs or import charges and the parcel is returned:

The shipment is not considered delivered

The merchandise remains the property of Slovenian Kitchen

No refund will be issued until the parcel is returned to us and received
If a refund is approved after the parcel is received, it will be issued minus all costs billed to our shop, including but not limited to:

All shipping fees, including return shipping fees

Customs fees

Duty charges

Any additional carrier or handling fees
A refund will only be processed after the parcel arrives back to us and all related charges have been fully settled.
Slovenian Kitchen is not liable for customs, duty, or import fees, or any consequences resulting from unpaid fees.
Address Responsibility & Shipping Risks
Customers are responsible for providing a valid physical street address. We do not deliver to PO Boxes or similar mailing addresses. Delays, returns, or failed deliveries caused by incorrect, incomplete, or invalid addresses, or any other mailing issues, are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Once items are shipped, any issues or concerns regarding shipping, delivery, failed delivery, or additional fees must be addressed directly with the courier service.
All shipping risks, including lost, damaged, delayed, refused, or misrouted packages, are the responsibility of the customer and the carrier once the order leaves our facility.
Processing Times
All orders are processed within 3–5 business days. Orders are not shipped or delivered on weekends or holidays.
If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, processing and shipping may be delayed. Please allow additional time in transit. Significant delays will be communicated via email or phone.
Please note that delays may also occur due to postal or courier service issues beyond our control.
Domestic & International Shipping Rates
Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
For international orders, your order may be subject to import duties and taxes (including VAT) once it reaches your country.
Slovenian Kitchen is not responsible for these charges; they are the customer’s responsibility.

We handle these situations on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to find a satisfactory solution.
Delivery, Missing, or Stolen Packages
Once a package is marked as delivered by the courier, responsibility for the parcel transfers to the recipient.
If a package is reported missing, stolen, or delivered to the wrong address, please contact the courier directly to open a claim. As a small creator-run shop, we cannot replace or refund orders that show as delivered, but we are happy to guide you through the process.
