Lectar hearts are colourfully decorated honey cookies that date back to 1766. They were first produced in Radovljica, Slovenia. They are an old renowned traditional handcraft and are a part of Slovenia's cultural history. Through the generations these hearts became more of a symbol rather than something to eat.

The hearts embellished with a mirror send a very special message of love.  It is said that when a boy wanted to show his love for a girl, he gave her a Lectar heart with a mirror. The girl who received this heart knew that the reflection in the mirror means that she is in his heart.
